Our approach
Safe, reliable, user-friendly electrical systems for captains and owners.
Our goal is to provide captains and owners with safe, reliable, user-friendly electrical systems. We do it by following ABYC recommendations, the same standards surveyors and the USCG use to build and evaluate recreational vessels. Those standards cover safety items like overcurrent protection, wire type and size, and load calculations for panels and load centers. They also cover reliability: how wires are supported, connected, and protected from damage. For added reliability we use heat-shrink connections in damp areas.
We make all electrical equipment readily accessible for service. Every switch, branch circuit, terminal block, and buss wire we install is labeled, which makes troubleshooting faster and less costly. New circuits are run cleanly, removing unused wire where it can be done efficiently, and each one is documented with a line drawing for the vessel's records. That saves time and money in the long run.
By system
The systems worked on most, from a single circuit to a complete new-build, each designed and installed to ABYC standard.
House bank and start bank properly separated, charging that holds through the weekend, every run fused at the source.
A lithium bank done right: the correct BMS, a charge profile the alternator and charger both respect, and low-temp and over-current protection.
Galvanic isolation on the shore connection, inverter and charger sized correctly, and ELCI for enhanced safety.
Each circuit has overcurrent protection. Tinned “Boat Wire” is used for new circuits and to replace any defective wires. All wires are labeled at their point of termination to the system so they can be quickly traced. All connections are correctly terminated. Heat shrink is used in areas subject to moisture.
Stray-current testing to find what is drawing down the anodes, plus a bonding system that protects underwater metals the way it should.
Chartplotter, radar, VHF, and sounder installed on a proper NMEA 2000 backbone, wired and terminated so every device sees the network.
Solar arrays with the right charge controller, correct wire sizing, and clean integration with the existing DC system or a lithium bank.
